Open Source Shorts 2006

Open Source Shorts is a screening of short films released under Creative Commons licences.
Creative Commons licenses provide a flexible range of protections and freedoms for authors and artists and build on the “all rights reserved” concept of traditional copyright to offer a voluntary “some rights reserved” approach.
With Creative Commons licences people are free to copy distribute and remix creative works without the threat of being labelled pirates. The screening will be followed by a short discussion on Creative Commons.
Support creativity support the commons. This event is presented by Irish artist Kevin Flanagan at the Nuns Island Arts Centre, Galway Ireland at 5pm Saturday 2nd of December.

I am currently seeking submissions. The criteria are straight forward. The film should be at most 10 minutes in duration, published with a ceative commons copyright licence and freely available to download from the internet.

I’m looking for variety and am open to different styles. Documentary, Narative/Non-Narative, Art films, and Music Videos.

To submit a film simply email kev.flanagan@gmail.com your details with a description of your film with a link where I can view and download it from.

Please be specific in your use of the term “Open Source”.

The application of a Creative Commons License to a work does not necessarily make it “Open Source”.

“Open Source” should refer to both the means of production and end licensing.

“Byala reka” is a short film festival founded to popularize the short movie form and to gather together young professionals and amateurs.

The project aims to present the films in open air environment.

This is a three day festival lasting from 3 to 5 August 2007. It will take place in the ”Bjala reka” reserve in the Central Balkans region next to the town of Kalofer, Bulgaria. The participants and the guests can accommodate in a tent camp near to the place of the festival. This will give a possibility for everybody to exchange opinions and ideas and to discuss the films. This exchange of ideas will help to create new professional contacts.
